A Look at the Gainers and Losers at the NSE on Thursday

NIC Bank was the top gainer of the day at the NSE on Thursday. The lender gained 9.35 percent at the price of 29.25 shillings per share followed by Eaagds with a gain of 9.30 percent at the price of 23.50 shillings per share.

Flame Tree Group came in third with 8.51 percent at the price of 5.10 shillings per share. TPS Eastern Africa (Serena) and Barclays Bank gained 8.43 each at the price of 22.50 and 9.00 shillings per share respectively.

Standard Group was the top loser of the day. The company lost 9.64 percent at the price of 18.75 shillings per share.

Kenya Airways and Sasini Tea and Coffee lost 3.23 and 2.41 percent respectively at the price of 6.00 and 20.25 shillings per share respectively.

Kapchorua Tea Company and Olympia Capital closed the top five losers of the day on Thursday with 1.95 and 1.90 percent respectively at the price of 75.50 and 3.60 shillings per share respectively.

In another news, the East African Portland Cement has reported a loss after tax of 248 million shillings for the year ending 31 December 2016. This was from the 528-million-shilling net loss witnessed in 2015 at the same period.

According to the financial statement from the troubled cement manufacturer, the revenues dropped by 19 percent to 4.6 billion shillings from 3.7 billion shillings in 2015.
