KiLeLe Trade Fair: Kenya’s Premier Trade Fair For Leather Industry
By Soko Directory Team / September 14, 2017
The Leather Articles Entrepreneurs Association (LAEA) conducted a Co- Creation workshop that saw the participation of stakeholders in designing the Kenya International Leather & Leather Articles (KILeLe) Trade Fair.
This is following the quest to access global markets by LAEA members.
Kilele is visioned to be Kenya’s premiere trade fair for the leather industry that aims to increase access to global markets and induce greater demand for Kenyan leather and leather products.
It will be an annual meeting place for the global leather industry where trends and innovations in leather, leather accessories, industrial inputs and technology are showcased and discussed.
The fair will be complemented by a series of events of topical interest to the guests and exhibitors, making Kilele an incorporated event that combines marketing, commercial, intelligence and educational activities.
The trade fair will also accelerate growth of the leather industry by way of promoting vendor development, backward and forward linkages, and through exploring linkage with global value chains.
Leather and leather products are among the most widely traded agro-based commodities in the world, with the global leather trade estimated at $120 billion in value – a year.
Kenya’s share of the global market however remains a paltry 0.14 percent. This is while the country boasts of the third largest livestock in Africa.
With the raw material abundance, growing demand for leather goods that outweighs supply and the earmarking of the leather industry by the Kenyan government as a key sector – there has never been an better time than now to position the industry for the global market.
If successfully launched, KILeLe Trade Fair is set to become a game changer in Kenya’s leather industry by offering the much-needed global market for leather goods.
It will not only gather thousands of significant global leather players to one place in a short span of time, but also offer local and international visitors a comprehensive overview of the market and what the industry has to offer.
