Ahmed Mohamed, a suspect in the 2013 Westgate Mall attack case has been released after lack of sufficient evidence in the case in Milimani Law Courts Nairobi on Monday.

Magistrate Francis Andayi, who made the ruling, however, said that Ahmed Abdi, Liban Omar, and Hussein Mustafa, had a case to answer and were hence to remain in custody. Over 140 witnesses testified against the accused persons.

The three are expected to try and convince the court of their supposed innocence in the next hearing with the liberty to call upon their own witness before the Magistrate can convict them.

It is six years since the Westgate mall attack that claimed 67 lives and destroyed many more and the delay in serving justice is a mirror of the state of our Judiciary
