A 25-year-old woman was arrested on Sunday, 8th December in Ndhiwa town for allegedly defiling a 17-year-old boy.
The woman, who works as a cashier at a local bar is said to have been defiling the boy since schools were closed late October.
The seventeen-year-old student is reported to have been lured by the woman with money, encouraging him to have sex with her in exchange for money.
The boy’s parents knew nothing about the illicit affair between their son and the bar cashier, until on Saturday, 7th December, when the boy’s father noticed that his son had disappeared to an unknown place.
According to the minor’s father, it is his daughter and a private tutor hired to teach his children (daughter and son) that raised an alarm about the boy’s disappearance.
“I hired a private tutor to help my daughter and son with their studies during these long holidays, but the tutor complained that my son could hardly ever show up for lessons, and that for four consecutive days he was not seen,” said the father.
It is reported that when the boy’s father and the police arrived at the woman’s place, she was found sleeping with the boy and was immediately arrested and taken to Ndhiwa Police Station where she was detained.
Ndhiwa police boss Evans Ombui, said that their investigations showed that indeed the woman was defiling the boy and the she would be detained at the station awaiting to be arraigned in court on Monday, 9th December.
The incident sparked fury among residents who said the woman deserves harsh punishment for defiling a student whose whole future lay ahead of him.
While the boy could only be 17 and therefore considered a minor, could it be possible that he knew what he was getting himself into?
Lately, cases of minors engaging in sexual acts with both older people and age mates have been on the rise, that there has been a debate in the country on whether or not to reduce the age of consent for sex.
