Arsenal Manager has tested positive for the Coronavirus prompting the league to postpone the next fixtures.

Just like other patients who tested positive, the Arsenal manager said he was not feeling well and he decided to go for a test which turned out positive.

Mikel Arteta,37, said he has isolated himself and promised to go back to work when it is safe for those around him.

“This is really disappointing,” said Arteta.” I took the test after feeling poorly. I will be at work as soon as I’m allowed.”

Following Mikel Arteta’s diagnosis, the match between Arsenal and Brighton has been postponed to a later date to avoid further spread of the virus.

All those who interacted with Mikel Arteta have been told to self-isolate as required by the public health and safety standards.

It is most likely that the entire squad will have to isolate since they have interacted with their manager during the week.

Arsenal’s squad has been in quarantine for two weeks now after they had interacted with Olympiakos’ boss who tested positive for the coronavirus.

The match between Arsenal and Man city in the course of the week was called off since the gunners had not finished their 14-day quarantine period. The squad will have to go back to isolation since their manager has been infected.

The gunners closed all the training grounds as the club waits for final communication from the Premier League on the next step to take.

“The health of our people and the wider public is our priority and that is where our focus is,” Arsenal managing director Vinai Venkatesham said.

“We are in active dialogue with all the relevant people to manage this situation appropriately, and we look forward to getting back to training and playing as soon as medical advice allows.”

Chelsea’s player, Callum Hudson-Odoi has also tested positive for the coronavirus forcing the Blues management to cancel the training. All the Chelsea players have been asked to self-isolate to avoid further risks.

“It is expected that those who did not have close contact with Callum will return to work in the coming days. In the meantime, the men’s team building, one of several separate buildings at our training ground, will remain closed.” Chelsea announced.

“The rest of our training facility, Stamford Bridge and our other facilities are operating as normal.”

Man City and France defender Benjamin Mendy has also been isolated after he started showing suspicious symptoms of the virus. Three Leicester City players have also self-isolated after showing symptoms of the virus.

The premier league is now expected to give an official statement on what step it would take to ensure the safety of the players. The season is currently at risk of being suspended.
