Giving Parents 5 Days To Prepare Kids For School Is Insane

By Juma / October 7, 2020 | 8:41 am

Professor George Magoha, or Magoha Son of Magoha, seems to be the only Professor in this country who is the Chief consistent in inconsistency. Talking about his inconsistency requires a whole thesis, only applicable to those seeking to do a Ph.D.

Magoha has proved that the one using a spoon to eat a hot meal, has no idea the one using bare hands is feeling. The good professor is clueless about the reality on the ground and thinks every Kenyan is as rich as he is, swimming in millions every month.

Mr. Magoha, through the Ministry of Education, one that has proved to be more confused than any other, has ordered that kids and students in Grade 4, Standard 8, and Form 4 report to school on October 12, 2020, giving parents less than 5 days to prepare.

Giving parents who have been hit hard by the impact of the sweeping Covid-19 less than 5 days to prepare their kids for school out of the blues is first-degree madness that not even the best doctor at the Mathare Mental Hospital can establish.

Stats show that at least 2,000,000 Kenyans lost their jobs as a result of Covid-19. Some of the stats are placing the numbers at 4,500,000 of those who have lost their jobs. Among these people are parents, and guardians who support and pay school fees.

There are thousands of parents who lost their jobs in towns and were unable to pay rent and decided to go back to the village. Mr. Magoha, his wisdom or a clear absence of the same thinks such a parent needs 5 days to find rent, fare, and school fees in 5 days. Madness.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education has clearly failed to put in place the health measures that will protect our kids against contracting Covid-19. No funds have been released to schools in the last 7 months. No public school has what it takes to handle kids at this time.

As Rwanda was busy constructing 22,500 classrooms in preparation for schools reopening and to ensure there is social distancing, our wise leaders were busy planning how to loot funds from donors. Since their kids go to school outside Kenya, they had no business.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health is warning of a possible second wave of Covid-19 that will sweep across the country than the current one. What plans do these people have with our kids? Are they planning to use them to test the waters?

Magoha said that the government was to give at least 2 masks to every child in school. Not even a thread has arrived in any school. Almost 90 percent of primary schools in Kenya have no running water. Most in semi-arid areas have no even a single drop.

There are a few privileged parents who think opening schools is okay. They are right, in their own privileged world but millions are not. Magoha does not own the Ministry of Education. He is just a custodian and should stop jumping around confused than the kids who were promised laptops 7 years ago.

We all want schools to reopen but let us do it in the right way.
