List Of Areas In Nairobi Set To Experience Water Shortage For Two Days
The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company has listed areas that will experience water shortage in Nairobi County. In a notice, the repair works will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 5, to Friday, October 6, 2023, at noon.
Estates along Mombasa Road, Thika Road, Jogoo Road, Outer-Ring Road, and the Central Business District (CBD) will face water disruptions for 30 hours as technicians repair a water leakage at Ngethu Water Treatment Plant.
List of the areas set to be affected include the Central Business District, University of Nairobi main campus, Coca-Cola Factory, Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), EPZ-Athi River, Mlolongo area, Gatundu, and Kiambu towns. South B, South C, and the neighbourhoods, including the Embakasi Area, will affected by water shortage.
Other areas include, the whole of the Industrial area and areas along Juja Road: Mlango Kubwa, the whole of Mathare, Eastleigh Airforce Base, Huruma, Kariobangi, Pangani, and Eastleigh were also included. Areas along Jogoo Road: Maringo, Buru Buru, and the surrounding estates, including Bahati.

Outer-ring Road includes Baba Dogo, Dandora, Dandora KCC factory, (47) Umoja Estate 1 and 2, Donholm, Fedha, Tassia, Avenue Park, and Nyayo Embakasi will also experience water shortage. Areas along Kangundo Road set to face water shortages are Ruai, Kayole, Komarock estate, Mwiki, and Njiru.
Areas along Thika Road comprise Kenya Breweries, Kenyatta University, Githurai, Zimmerman, Kahawa West, Kahawa Barracks, Kasarani, Mwiki, Kahawa Sukari, Kahawa Wendani, Brookside Dairies, Garden Estate and Thome Estate.
Estates along Limuru Road include Parklands, Ngara, Aga Khan Hospital, University of Nairobi – School of Law and City Park Area, Gigiri, United Nations – Gigiri, Muthaiga.

Adjacent areas along Naivasha Road and Kikuyu Road, Kawangware, Riruta/Satellite, Uthiru, and Ndwaru Road would also be affected. Estates along James Gichuru Road, Langata Road, and Waiyaki Way, Riverside, Westlands, Lavington, Kilimani, and Kileleshwa were also not spared from the water shortage.
Additionally, other areas include Madaraka, Karen, Lang’ata, Kibra, and adjacent areas along Lang’ata Road. The Ngethu treatment plant will be shut down during the specified period. It will also involve carrying out scheduled maintenance at the Kiambu reservoir in preparation for the anticipated El Niño phenomenon during the October 2023 short rains.
“Whilst every effort will be made to restore the supply of water as soon as possible, we request all customers in the affected areas to use water sparingly during the period of interruption,” read part of the notice.
