More Candidates To Run For FKF Presidency To Oust Nick Mwendwa

Nick Mwendwa is in for a tough challenge as more candidates seek to oust him from the Football Kenya Federation’s seat in the forthcoming elections.

The FKF elections which will be held on December 7 this year has attracted at least four candidates who are ready to face off the incumbent Mwendwa.

The four candidates who have announced to run for the FKF presidency include; Former Vihiga County Governor Moses Akaranga, Former FKF chairperson Sam Nyamweya, Gor Mahia’s Chief Executive Officer Lordvick Aduda and Nick Mwendwa himself.

Sam Nyamweya has been the main critic of Nick Mwendwa’s regime and the two have been at loggerheads for a long time now.

Nick Mwendwa had really pushed for changes at the FKF management which resulted in him being elected as the board’s president, but it seems like Mr. Nyamweya has never moved on and will be willing to do whatever it takes to clinch the seat this year.

Gor Mahia’s CEO Lordvick Aduda will be running for the FKF seat for the first time after he stated that football stakeholders in the country have endorsed him and seen him fit for the post.

“Football stakeholders feel that time is up for me to take up the leadership mantle. I have accepted their challenge and endorsement and I will give it a shot. I will be releasing my manifesto soon,” said Aduda during his announcement.

Mr. Aduda is part of the team that has been criticizing Nick Mwendwa’s regime, posing questions on the criteria used to select players to the national team, why foreign coaches are mostly preferred to the local ones without serious qualifications and the FKF’s expenditure on grants from the Government.

The FKF nominations are underway with interested candidates submitting their applications to the FKF Electoral Board. The FKF polls are set for December 7, 2019.
