Fixed Income & Money Market Update: 24th March 2015

Secondary Market: Trading in the secondary market was modest during Tuesday’s trading session with a total of KES 642 million volumes traded and 18 bonds deals transacted. Investors showed interest for bonds within the intermediate to long term bracket.

Money Market: Liquidity in the money market tightened signaled by the interbank rate which rose to 7.79% from 7.66% the previous day as the Central Bank continued to mop up liquidity from the money market. Meanwhile, the USDKES pair garnered 0.20% to 91.75 (12:30pm GMT) supported by inflows trickling in for the auction of the infrastructure bond.
