In recent years, environmental concerns and compliance activities are increasingly being combined and aligned to some extent in order to avoid conflicts and wasteful overlaps & gaps. Environmental compliance is conforming to environmental laws, regulations, standards and other requirements such as site permits to operate business in a bid to reduce the impact of industrial processes on the environment.
The Environment Compliance training that has been ongoing throughout the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) regional chapters. The training has already been conducted in Kisumu and Nakuru. The next training will be in Nairobi on August 18, 2015 and the last training in Mombasa on August 20th.
Throughout this month, KAM in collaboration with the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) will be carrying out a training exercise on Environmental Compliance for the industry’ sustainable development.
The full day training is aimed at sensitizing members on:
- The revised Environmental Management Coordination Act 1999.
- Waste Management Regulations, 2006.
- Water Quality Regulations, 2006.
- Environment Regulations, Air Quality Regulations, 2014.
- Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Assessment regulations 2006.
- Wetlands Regulations 2009.
- Sustainable Reporting and Corporate responsibility.
The trainings have been held in Kisumu and Nakuru Chapters. Similar trainings will be conducted in Nairobi on August 18, 2015 and Mombasa Chapter on August 20, 2015.
