NBK commends First Lady Kenyatta for Healthcare Campaign

National Bank of Kenya (NBK-NSE) has lauded Kenya’s First Lady H.E Margaret Kenyatta for her dedication to the improvement of maternal healthcare in Kenya.

The Bank’s Managing Director & CEO Mr. Munir Sheikh Ahmed said the campaign is making significant contribution to the improvement of healthcare conditions, especially in low income set ups and in far flung rural Kenya.

Mr. Munir, who last year accompanied Mrs Kenyatta to the Northern Eastern county of Mandera, noted that some areas where the Beyond Zero mobile clinics were presently operating would not have been served any other way “than with a solution where the clinic goes to the patients”.

“National Bank is very proud of First Lady’s effort in the Beyond Zero campaign,” said the Managing Director.

NBK said its partnership with the First Lady kicked off in 2013, when the bank took up the challenge of championing afforestation efforts in the country in a Kenya@50 project. In this CSR program, National Bank employees plant 100,000 for every new branch opened since the launch of the bank’s transformation program 3 years ago. The program is nurturing two and a half million trees across 40 counties making it the single largest corporate-driven afforestation initiative in Kenya .

Last year, as Mrs Kenyatta officially opened the Bank’s Mandera branch, she heiled this NBK CSR project for planting over 100,000 trees in the arid county.

National Bank has donated Ksh 5 Million to support the Beyond Zero campaign. Over100 NBK employees will participate in this years First Lady’s Half Marathon (FLHM).
