The Kenyan shilling strengthened against the US Dollar by 0.81 percent and by 5.55 percent against the Sterling Pound year to date but has weakened against the Euro by 3.33 percent year to date.
The market turnover at the Kenyan Stock Market today recorded 115.47 percent increase to 896.02 million shillings or 8.83million US Dollars as compared to the yesterday’s trading. At the same time, the NSE 20 Index went up 0.20 percent to close the day at 4,016.64 while NASI index lost 0.10% to close the day at 146.73.
Foreign investors today assumed a net buying position by accounting for 69.2 percent of total market purchases and 64.7 percent of total market sales.
The EAC Markets remained relatively the same as yesterday. Today, in Rwanda, the RSE RSI and RSE ALSI declined 0.2 percent and 0.03 percent respectively to close the day at 145.98 and 130.50 respectively. In Uganda on the other hand, the USE ALSI and USE LSI declined by 0.04 percent and 0.01 percent respectively closing the day at 1,793.57 and 414.39 respectively.
