The Kenyan shillings has been on a rising trajectory in recent weeks. The shillings strengthened 0.86 percent against the US dollar year-to-date. The Kenyan shilling further registered a 5.04 percent year-to-date gain against the Sterling Pound while against the Euro, the shilling strengthened by 3.23 percent year-to-date.
How did the Kenyan Stock Market perform?
The market turnover at the bourse recorded an increase of 42.42 percent. This was an increase of 415.84 million shillings or 4.10 million US Dollars form the trading on Friday.
The Nairobi Security Exchange 20 index rose to 0.30 percent to close at 4,008.50 while the NASI index declined by 0.10 percent to close at 146.88. The NSE index 25 on the other hand remained constant to close at 4,233.02 with a year-to-date of 0.91 percent.
Foreign investors on the other hand assumed a net buying position by accounting for 86.3 percent of the total market purchases and 82.3 percent of the total sales at the market.
