Finger millet is one of the crops that farmers in the lowland areas where maize does not thrive well have been advised to plant. This is as a measure of diversifying into drought tolerant and fast maturing crops. Sorghum too is in this group of crops. Finger millet has proven to be very lucrative as its market price at Sh.7,200 in Kisumu and Eldoret, which is highest. It retails lowest in Nakuru, where it goes at Sh.4,900 per ever 90Kg bag. A 90Kg bag of Njahi was being retailed at Sh.13,950 in Mombasa, which is the highest market price as compared to other towns. The same quantity went at Sh.8,100 in Eldoret. Fresh peas lover can get a 51Kg bag at Sh.6,000 in Mombasa, Sh.5,000 in Nairobi, Sh.2,500 in Kisumu and Sh.1,530 in Eldoret.
