The online taxi industry seems to be growing in Kenya as more and more keep being introduced to the Kenyan market.

Taxify, an Estonian online taxi-hailing app will be launching its services in Nairobi today. This is after teaming up with a number of local drivers from the Kenya Taxi Cab Association, who had in the past been against the introduction on Uber services in the Kenyan Market.

Kenya is the second country in Africa that Taxify has introduced its services, after Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa. So far, 400 drivers from the Kenya Taxi Cab Association have already signed to the platform and operations will kick off immediately after the launch.

The difference between Taxify and other already existing online taxi operators such as Uber, Mondo Ride and Little Cab is that, it will only be working with fleets already existing taxi companies. They stated that this is because such drivers will be offering better customer experience to clients. The firm has promised to offer lower passenger tariffs as compared to its competitors.

Taxify works as an app that customers and drivers download. It enables customers to search for drivers close to them.  This ensures fast pick up times so if you use taxi services often and want a convenient service. It would be a great idea to give Taxify a try. Professional drivers and taxi companies are also welcome. Taxify offers a revolutionary, versatile and stable platform.

Taxify Thursday unveiled two price structures: a flat fee regardless of time taken in journey, and another levying per minute charges. The ‘Economy’ tariff will see passengers pay Sh50 per kilometer, Sh5 per minute, and a base charge of Sh100. The ‘Standard’ fare is calculated at Sh100 per kilometer and a base charge of Sh100, with no waiting time fees, Taxify said.

The app is available for Android, iOS and Windows phones. It is downloadable from the play store, the app store and the windows phone store for the respective phones

Taxify stated that it has plans to venture into all major towns including Mombasa, Nakuru and Kisumu in the next one year and recruit about 7,000 drivers belonging to licensed taxi firms or groups to the platform.
