Which food did you take for breakfast? There are a variety of meals that make up a healthy and balanced diet, especially in this generation where most of us do not consider whatever we choose for our stomachs, as long as it is edible.
We need to embrace the culture of adding some traditional foods on our breakfast menu, and by this I mean foods such as Irish potatoes, cassava and sweet potatoes.
There is a rise in the number of people suffering from chronic diseases caused by consumption of a lot of fats and sugars, thus medics advise on adapting the trend of taking traditional foods as compared to junk or fast foods.
These foods are found on the markets near us and as the table below shows, there is plenty of Fresh cassava and sweet potatoes though the prices vary from town to town. the maximum market price for a 99kg bag of fresh cassava is Sh.2,500 while the same goes at a minimum of Sh.1,000. Prices for Sweet potatoes on the hand are abit higher as the maximum price for a 98kg bag is Sh.4,500 while it is being sold lowest at Sh.1,8000.

In every meal that we take, it is advisable to add some vegetables. There is enough of cabbages and kales across the country. A 126 bag of cabbages is being sold at Sh.3,700 in Mombasa, which is the highest market price. The same quantity goes at Sh.1200 in Kisumu and Nakuru respectively.
It is so unfortunate that tomato prices are still high in all the towns due to its scarcity. A 64kg bag in Eldoret retails at Sh.8,500 while the same goes at Sh.3,000 in Nakuru and Kitui respectively.
