Trading activity rebounded when compared to yesterday’s performance as shown by the market indicators above. The NSE 20 Share index gained 39.76 points to close the day at 3485.36 points while the NASI climbed to 146.80 points from 144.40 points previously. The NSE 25 Share index improved by 40.67 points to settle at 3970.46 points.
Market capitalization advanced albeit slightly to KES 2114.416 billion from KES 2079.822 billion earlier, whilst equity turnover more than doubled to KES 0.59 billion from KES 0.26 billion before on account of a significant jump in the number of shares traded.

Currencies
The Kenya shilling remained unchanged at an average of KES 101.46 against the US dollar on Tuesday with expectations of a probable increase in demand for the dollars by importers as the end of month draws near. The local currency gained 0.56% against the Sterling but lost a meagre 0.20% against the Euro. The pound has been in decline for nine consecutive trading sessions since the Bank of England slashed interest rates to record lows and announced a bond buying programme in the wake of the Brexit vote.
