A 115kg bag of maize is currently retailing highest in Mombasa where it is selling at Sh.5,200. The same is going for Sh.2,000 in Nairobi and Kisumu and Sh.1,600 in Nakuru and Eldoret.
Dry maize on the other hand remains with the previous market prices of Sh.3,200 in Kisumu for a 90kg bag. The same quantity retailed at Sh.3,000 in Mombasa, Sh.2,900 in Nairobi, Sh.2,700 in Nakuru and Sh.2,600 in Eldoret.
Eldoret has stood out to be with the lowest prices for both green and dry maize as compared to other towns in the country. On the contrary, the town has the highest market prices for finger millet and Sorghum as compared to other towns.
On the legume group of commodities, groundnuts take the lead with the highest prices for a 110kg bag. In Mombasa, it is being sold at Sh.14,300, Sh.12,200 in Nairobi, Sh.12,000 in Nakuru, Sh.11,700 in Eldoret and Sh.11,200.
A 90kg bag of green grams on the other hand retailed as follows: Sh.13,500 in Eldoret, Sh.10,000in Kisumu, Sh.9,600 in Nairobi, Sh.8,000 in Nakuru and Sh.7,200 in Mombasa.
Rosecoco beans is not so much in plenty in the market currently thus the prices were abit high s compared to the recent past. In Eldoret, a 90kg bag retailed at Sh.7,650, Sh.7,200 in Kisumu, Sh.6,100 in Mombasa, Sh.6,000 in Nairobi and Sh.5,000 in Eldoret.
