A 126-kilogram bag of cabbages is retailing at an average market price of 2,464 shillings across the country. In Busia, the vegetable was going at 6,300 shillings and this was the highest market price, 2,500 shillings in Mombasa, 2,000 shillings in Malindi, 1,800 shillings in Kisumu and Eldoret respectively, 1,650 shillings in Nairobi, and 1,200 shillings in Nakuru.
A 138-kilogram bag of carrots on the other hand was being sold as follows in selected towns across the country: 5,900 shillings in Busia, 5,500 shillings in Mombasa, 3,450 shillings in Malindi, 3,300 shillings in Nairobi, 3,000 shillings in Kisumu and Nairobi respectively and 2,200 shillings in Eldoret.
There has been acute shortage of tomatoes across the country following the ongoing drought that has hit most parts of the country. Due to this, tomato prices have greatly gone up and a 64-kilogram bag was retailing at an average market price of 5,093 shillings with the lowest market price being 2,850 shillings in Malindi. Eldoret on the other hand has the highest market price of 7,000 shillings.
A 142-kilogram bag of spring onions was being retailed highest in Mombasa at 3,000 shillings and lowest in Nakuru and Eldoret at 1,000 shillings.
