Dry Maize Still Retailing Averagely at 4,856 Shillings Even After Low Price Promise from the Government

A 90-kilogram bag of dry maize is averagely retailing at a market price of 4,856 shillings across the country even after the government promised to lower the price to at least 2,700 shillings.

This can be seen from the fact that in selected towns, the price if dry maize is being sold at not less than 4,000 shillings, with the highest prices for the 90-kilogram bag standing at 5,500 shillings.

A 90-kilogram bag of sorghum, on the other hand, was being sold as follows; 9,600 shillings in Kisumu, 9,000 shillings in Mombasa, 8,100 shillings in Kitale 7,800 shillings in Kitui, 7,000 shillings in Nakuru and 7,200 shillings in Nairobi.

A 110-kilogram bag of groundnuts was being sold highest at 17,600 shillings in Kitui and lowest at 12,600 shillings in Eldoret.

A 90-kilogram bag of Njahi was going as follows: 16,700 shillings in Kitale, 11,700 shillings in Kitui, 10,800 shillings in Eldoret, 9,700 shillings in Mombasa, 9,200 shillings in Nairobi and 9,000 shillings in Nakuru.
