Kenya-Tanzania trade dispute likely to end in September dialogue

Kenya and Tanzania have firmed up September 6th to iron out the ongoing trade spat between the two countries.
In late June, Tanzania enforced governmental ban on exportation of grain to Kenya citing drought and later, importation of milk products and tyres.
On the other hand, Kenya has banned importation of cooking gas from Tanzania.
Over 2012-2016 period, total trade between the two countries averaged KES 54.37Bn with Kenya enjoying an edge with exports averaging KES 39.54Bn.
Tanzania accounted for 31.18 percent of Kenya’s export market in the 2012-2016 period and the spat will be detrimental to Kenya’s trade.
