The Central Bank of Kenya has been handed a go-ahead to open the tender bids for the printing of new design Kenyan currency after the court declined to stop the process.
DeLaRue Security printing firm together with another interested printing company had moved to court seeking the help of the court in stopping the Central Bank of Kenya from opening the tender documents accusing it of unlawfully restricting the tender process to only foreign entities alone which they said was in the violation of the key requirement for procurement. They said the move would hurt the local industry.
While turning down the application to stop the process, Judge Chacha Mwita directed the two printing firms to respond to the allegations made by the Central Bank of Kenya that they illegally obtained the tender documents.
