Kenyan Shilling
The Kenyan shillings weakened against the US Dollar by 0.02 percent from Wednesday’s to 103.39 shillings. This was, however, a strength of 0.08 percent on a year-to-date basis.
The shilling weakened against the Sterling Pound by 0.37 percent to 136.50 shillings as compared to Wednesday (-9.63% year-to-date).
Against the Euro, the Kenyan Shilling weakened 0.37 percent from Wednesday’s level to 121.76 (-13.73% year-to-date).
Kenyan Stock Market
The market turnover at the bourse declined 18.2 percent to USD 8.12 million or an equivalent of 839.3 million shillings from Wednesday’s trading.
The NSE 20 and NASI declined 0.33 percent and 2.48 percent to close at 3,826.76 and 167.90 respectively.
Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 58.1 percent of total market purchases and 36.9 percent of total market sales.
EAC Markets
In Rwanda, the RSE RSI and RASI held constant at 132.32 and 133.04 respectively while in Uganda, the USE ALSI gained 0.77 percent to close at 1,777.69 while USE LCI remained at 381.24.
