The Kenyan shilling which had picked up the better part of last week weakened slightly against the US Dollar on Monday as compared to Friday.

The shilling weakened against the US Dollar by 0.8 percent to close the day at 103.34 compared to its performance on Friday.

The shilling also slightly weakened against the Sterling Pound by 0.29 percent from Friday to close the day at 137.83.

Against the Euro, the shilling went slightly down by 0.53 percent from Friday to close the day at 122.94.
 
The Kenyan Stock Market

The market turnover at the bourse went up by 51.3 percent to USD 5.56 million or an equivalent of 574.1 million shilling from Friday’s trading.

The NSE 20 dropped 0.32 percent while the NASI gained 1.41 percent to close the day at 3,820.74 and 170.80 points respectively.

Foreign investors, on the other hand, assumed a net buying position. They accounted for 44.6 percent of total market purchases and 44.0 percent of total market sales.

The EAC Markets

Across the pond in Rwanda, the RSE RSI and RASI held constant at 131.88 and 132.98 respectively while in Uganda, the USE ALSI and USE LCI declined 0.54 percent and 0.56 percent to close Monday at 1,770.95 and 379.11 respectively.
