The government has gazetted next Tuesday as a public holiday to allow for the swearing-in ceremony of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his running mate William Ruto.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that in accordance to the provisions of section 12 (3) of the Assumption of the office of the President Act 2012, Tuesday the 28th November 2017 shall be a public holiday,” Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi stated.
On Monday, the Kenya Supreme Court upheld the election victory of Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta dismissing two petitions that had been filed to invalidate the October 26. repeat poll.
A final tally of the October 26 repeat poll votes gave Uhuru 7,483, 895 votes (98.26 percent) according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
