378, 397 Adolescents Became Pregnant in One Year- UNFPA

A total of 378, 397 adolescent girls became pregnant between July 2016 and June 2017 according to a report released by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

According to the report, 29, 932 of the girls were aged between 10 and 14 years while 349, 465 of the girls were aged between 15 and 19 years.

Narok County leads with 40 percent of its teenage girls have dropped out of school due to pregnancies followed by Homa Bay at 33 percent, West Pokot at 29 percent, Tana River at 28 percent, Nyamira, Samburu, Migori, and Kwale at 28, 26, 25 and 24 percent respectively.

More shocking from the report, almost 90 percent of the girls reported having been impregnated by boda-boda operators with 98 percent of them have dropped out of school.
