Equities’ performance improved in the Thursday’s trading with all the major indices closing in the green albeit on lower turnover.
As has been the trend in more than ten consecutive sessions, Safaricom Plc (NSE: SCOM) was the day’s largest mover while accounting for 53.2 percent of total market activity compared to 59.4 percent recorded in Wednesday’s session.
Kenya Airways Ltd (NSE: KQ) closed at KES 17.40, a 5.45 percent gain in the session on Local investor buying the interest in the counter pushing it to the top five movers’ list.
The share has been on an uptrend for the past one week, up 228.3 percent following a lift of suspension from trading which had been effected to allow the debt restructuring process to happen.
Foreign investor activity dipped to 63.7 percent of total market activity compared to 72.1 percent recorded in the previous session.
Safaricom Plc (NSE: SCOM) was the most active counter for the 12th consecutive session exuding net buying interest and the day’s highest net foreign inflows as East African Breweries Ltd (NSE: EABL) recorded the day’s highest net foreign outflows.
Foreign investors continued to sell out of Equity Group Plc (NSE: EQTY) as has been the trend in the past four consecutive sessions.
The foreign desk has been fairly active on both sides of the market in the past four sessions alternating between net buying and net selling activities; it logged net buying activity in today’s trading.
Bond turnover closed at 0.59 billion shillings, 78.3 percent lower than the previous session on 29 deals compared to 2.70 billion on 44 deals previously.
