Kenyans, on Tuesday, took to social media with the hashtag #UhuruDeportMeToo, ‘pleading’ with President Uhuru Kenyatta to ‘deport’ them from Kenya.
The conversation was born following an attempt by the government to deport the self-declared NRM ‘General’ Miguna Miguna to Dubai.
Miguna Miguna had just landed in Kenya after being deported to Canada seven weeks ago before a court order was issued for him to return to the country.
When he landed at the JKIA, the immigration officials wanted him to surrender his Canadian passport, something the ‘General’ declined forcing some more than 40 undercover police officers bundling him to a Dubai-bound plane. He, however, refused to board.
The recent ‘deportation’ expedition has forced Kenyans to make fun of it. Asking the President to ‘deport’ them too. Though the tweets look ‘funny’, they mirror the extent at which Kenyans are dissatisfied in the manner in which the government is handling the Miguna saga.
#UhuruDeportMeToo I’d rather be deported to Congo than Living in a country where shithole leaders prioritize giving such kids Laptops instead of providing a better studying environment pic.twitter.com/kKzluAxXPt

#UhuruDeportMeToo I’d rather be deported to Somalia than live in a country where police beat up innocent Kenyans on live TV and no action is taken;a country that denies one of theirs entry into his motherland. At least in Somalia they love each other no matter what. @C_NyaKundiH

#UhuruDeportMeToo to a country where:
1. Court orders are obeyed.
2. Leaders are not computer generated.
3. Police are not used as puppets.
4. The constitution is respected.
5. Citizens are not deported for standing for their rights.
6. The office of the people is supreme.— Victor Mochere (@VictorMochere) March 27, 2018
