SnapChat’s shares dropped by one billion US Dollars hours after renowned singer Rihanna criticized them on Twitter.
Rihanna faulted SnapChat following an ad on its app that appeared to make fun of domestic violence.
The ad is said to have asked users to choose between ‘slapping her’ and ‘punching him,’ that was for a mobile game ‘Would You Rather.’
Following criticism on Twitter, SnapChat pulled down the ad and issued a brief apology that stated that it violated its guidelines.
“I’d love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain’t that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it,” said the singer.
In February this year, SnapChat lost a further 1.3 billion dollars after a reality TV star Kylie Jenner complained that she did not like the SnapChat’s new look.
