The Kenyan shilling gained traction against the US Dollar but weakened against the both the Sterling pound and the Euro.
The shilling strengthened against the US Dollar by 0.02 percent from the session on Tuesday to end the day at 101.31 shillings to the dollar. On a year-to-date basis, the shilling is still strong by 1.86 percent against the dollar.
Against the Sterling Pound, the shilling weakened by 0.69 percent from Tuesday’s level to 140.89 shillings to the pound. This was also 1.54 percent less on a year-to-date.
The shilling further weakened against the Euro by 0.73 percent from Tuesday’s level to 125.69 shillings to the Euro with this being 1.95 percent lower on a year-to-date.
Kenyan Stock Market
Market turnover at the bourse rose 9.4 percent to USD 9.05 million 916.8 million shillings from Tuesday’s trading.
NSE 20 and NASI went up 0.13 percent and 0.63 percent to close at 3,740.97 and 182.16.
Foreign investors assumed a net buying position by accounting for 52.0 percent of total market purchases and 51.8 percent of total market sales.
EAC Markets
In Rwanda, the RSI and RASI gained 1.51 percent and 0.21 percent to close at 134.18 and 133.31 respectively while in Uganda, the USE ALSI rose 0.27 percent to close at 2,096.32 while USE LCI declined 0.17 percent to close at 391.77.
