A British Physicist Stephen Hawking has passed on according to the family spokesperson.

Hawking whose mental genius as well as the physical disability served as an inspiration to many people around the world, died at the age of 76.

In 1988, he wrote a book, “A Brief History of Time” which became world’s bestseller and brought him to the world of genius in unlocking secrets of the universe.

In 1964, when he was just 22, Hawking was diagnosed with a form of motor neurone disease and doctors told him that he only had a few years to live. The illness led him immobile, permanently confined to a wheelchair and almost completely paralyzed and unable to speak except through his invention, the voice synthesizer.

He became one of the world’s most well-known and well-regarded scientist, earning same credit as Albert Einstein and Sir Isaac Newton.

He mainly focused on bringing together relativity especially nature and space and quantum theory – how the smallest particles in the Universe behave – to explain the creation of the universe and how it is governed.

He became the youngest fellows of Britain’s most prestigious scientific body, the Royal Society at the age of 32.
