Tomato prices have continued to go up in major towns across the country even as the onset of the long rains in most parts of the country with a 64-kilogram crate retailing highest in Isiolo and Nairobi respectively at 5,000 shillings.
The 64-kilogram crate was being sold at 4,000 shillings in Mombasa, 3,800 shillings in Kisumu, 3,400 shillings in Eldoret, 3,000 shillings in Kitale and Malindi respectively and 2,500 shillings in Nakuru.
A 142-kilogram bag of spring onions has the following prices in selected towns: 3,600 shillings in Mombasa and Kitale respectively, 2,500 shillings in Kisumu, 2,400 shillings in Nairobi, 1,200 shillings in Eldoret and 1,000 shillings in Nakuru.

On the fruit market, Avocados are back in season and the prices are fair in most towns as follows for a 90-kilogram bag: 3,500 shillings in Mombasa, 3,000 shillings in Malindi, 2,800 shillings in Eldoret, 2,250 shillings in Nairobi, 2,200 shillings in Nakuru, 1,800 shillings in Kisumu and 1,400 shillings in Kitale.
A 93-kilogram bag of oranges, on the other hand, is being sold as follows: 5,500 shillings in Isiolo, 5,400 shillings in Nakuru, 4,200 shillings in Nairobi, 3,600 shillings in Mombasa, 3,400 shillings in Eldoret, 3,000 shillings in Kisumu and Kitale and 2,500 shillings in Malindi.
