Africa is the world’s second largest and second most-populous continent holding 16 percent of the world’s human population. The continent is not just the second most popular, it has many regions with diverse populations speaking hundreds of languages and practicing a range of cultures and religions.
These different cultures and religions have been the source of much conflict for ages. The African continent has been overwhelmed with fighting, political mayhem, and oppression. This confusion, unfortunately, paved way for terrorist activity from terror groups such as AQMI, Al-Shabab, ISIS, Boko Haram among others.
The terrorist attacks have since reduced and this can be attributed to the strong military in the African countries.
According to a review by Global Firepower, Egypt is the mightiest in Africa when it comes to military power followed by Algeria.
Here is a look at the top 10 military powers in Africa as per Global Firepower review:
- Egypt
- Algeria
- South Africa
- Nigeria
- Angola
- Ethiopia
- Morocco
- Sudan
- Libya
- Democratic Republic of Congo
Kenya is at position 14 in terms of military power in Africa ranking at position 85 out of 136 countries currently considered for the annual GFP review. It should be remembered that Kenya has had an upper hand in fighting terror attacks in Somalia and is still adamant on its course.
