Most countries in the world use big junks of their budgets to fund and equip their military. They use the money to buy weapons and equipment as well as paying the military personnel.

The United States of America is the top military spender in the world. In 2017, the US government used 610 billion dollars on the military. As a superpower, the US often strives to be ahead of all countries in the world.

China is the second top military spender having used 228 billion US dollars to fund the military followed by Saudi Arabia at 69 billion shillings.

Other military spenders include Brazil, Italy, Australia and Canada at 29, 27 and 20 billion US Dollars respectively.

In Kenya, a lot of cash is usually pumped into the military every financial year. For instance, in 2017, the country used 96 billion shillings in the military. The spending was above Ethiopia and Uganda. This was a 10.5 percent growth from the previous year where the country used 86.9 billion shillings in the military.

At the same year, Tanzania used 56 billion shillings in her military followed by Ethiopia and Uganda. Security experts say that most military spenders in the world are in Africa but the figures released are often not correct.
