Kenyan Stock Market Exhibited a Downward Trend in October top Safaricom Plc Top

Sanlam Kenya was the top gainer of the day on Thursday during the session at Nairobi Securities Exchange upon gaining 9.52 percent at the price of 23.00 shillings per share.

Mumias Sugar Company and Uchumi Supermarket gained 9.09 and 6.67 percent at the price of 0.60 and 0.80 shillings per share respectively.

Home Afrika and Stanlib Fahari Income – REIT gained 6.25 and 6.06 percent at the price of 0.85 and 10.50 shillings per share respectively.

The top loser of the day was Olympia Capital with 10.00 percent at the price of 2.25 shillings per share followed by Umeme with a loss of 9.88 at the price of 7.75 shillings per share.

Flame Tree Group, Total Kenya and the East African Portland Cement lost 8.82, 6.67 and 4.00 percent at the price of 3.10, 28.00 and 19.20 shillings per share respectively.

Safaricom PLC was the top mover of the day. The telecommunications giant sold 7.96 million shares followed by Kenya Commercial Bank who sold 3.99 million shares.

Barclays Bank Kenya, Equity Group and Kenya Power and Lighting Company sold 2.11 million, 973,300 and 847,000 shares respectively.
