Sorghum farmers in Kenya are reaping big from their products as the market prices have turned to their favor with a 90-kilogram bag retailing at an average market price of 3.557 shillings across the country.
The increase in retail prices has been linked to the growth of the keg beer production by the Kenya Breweries Limited (KBL) which came to the rescue of Sorghum farmers and the current market prices are 5,850 shillings in Eldoret, 3,600 shillings in Nairobi, 3,500 shillings in Nakuru, 3,200 shillings in Kakamega, 3,000 shillings in Kisumu and 2,250 shillings in Mombasa.
A 90-kilogram bag of dry maize is being sold at 2,800 shillings in Kisumu, 2,200 shillings in Mombasa, 2,100 shillings in Isiolo, 2,000 shillings in Kakamega 1,800 shillings in Nairobi, 1,600 shillings in Eldoret and Kitale and 1,500 shillings in Nakuru.

A 90-kilogram bag of Finger Millet is retailing at 8,100 shillings in Eldoret, 7.600 shillings in Kisumu, 7,200 shillings in Nairobi and Mombasa, 5,400 shillings in Nakuru and Kitale and 4,000 shillings in Kakamega.
