Microsoft to Terminate Support for Windows 7 in 2020

Microsoft Windows 7 users will no longer be able to install the operations system from January 14th, 2020, following a termination notice from the company.

According to Microsoft, despite the operating system not having being sold for a long period of time, it is still being used by a lot of people across the globe.

Consumers will no longer have access to the operations systems after the set deadline but users who might be interested to continue using it will be forced to pay for extended support from Microsoft.

When the termination time comes, users will not be able to receive updates for the operations system, which also means that users will be prone to more security exploits and viruses than, say, a Windows 10 user.

However, Microsoft will push critical security updates for the OS until next year. That should help with the worst exploits, but old operating systems are still more likely to see problems with security than new versions.

Despite Microsoft launching Windows 8 back in 2012, users have continued using Windows 7. Now with Windows 10 in place, the company has decided to terminate windows 7 for good to give way for full uptake of Windows 10.

Windows 7 accounts for 42.8 percent of all PC operating systems while Windows 10 sits at 45.5 percent.

Consumers are being urged to upgrade to Windows 10 in the course of the one year before Windows 7 is done away with.
