I have repeatedly watched a heartrending clip of Inayat Kassam rescuing a lady too scared to walk; he held onto her and assisted her to walk to the gate while repeatedly saying “not today mama”.
“Who is this man?” Inayat Kassam, an experienced combative, was the first responder during the Westgate Mall attack in 2013 and was a figure the cameras could not miss at the Riverside Dusit D2 Hotel in Westlands as he was also one of the first responders at the scene.
Inayat Kassam is a combative and shooting instructor who offers classes, courses, and workshop training in Nairobi, Kenya. He is also an EDA Krav Maga Instructor and the Managing Director of Scorpio Africa Ltd in Nairobi.
Inayat and his team who are all licensed firearm holders provide security management and training in the form of security personnel, unarmed or armed training and certified firearm training, based on the ITA South African curriculum. He is certified as an Advanced Tactical Shooting Instructor with ITA and has also trained with entities such as SKOPOS, ACT, and AMOK over the course of the last 9 years.
Inayat has put his skills to good use and has hit the limelight for the second time after the 2013 Westgate Mall terror attack in his witnessed efforts to rescue people from the Dusit D2 Complex which was on Tuesday afternoon hit by terrorists.
As Kenyans scampered to safety, Inayat, a licensed firearm holder with extensive experience, run towards the danger in a calculative manner with the aim of saving lives.
Inayat’s act of bravery and promptness has won him Kenyans’ hearts and they have come out in a oneness spirit on social media to celebrate the man they all feel is more than deserving to get a Presidential commendation.
Media personality, Jeff Koinange has joined Kenyans in celebrating Inayat through a tweet:
