Kisumu Airport Runway Closed For Repairs

Kisumu International Airport runway will remain closed for the next 10 days due to scheduled repairs, Kenya Airways has announced in a statement sent to newsrooms on 18th March.

The statement was sent to notify guests of operational changes in flight schedules and aircraft type.  Kenya Airways noted that the closure was informed by a repairs announcement by Kenya Airports Authority (KAA).

“The airport’s runway will be closed from Monday 18th to Thursday 28th, March 2019 from 7.00pm to 6.45am,” Kenya Airways said.

The statement also notified its customers that the airport would remain fully closed all day and night on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019.

All Kenya Airways guests booked to travel on this day have been rebooked on the same flight numbers to travel the following day, 20th March 2019 when the airport resumes operations”, the statement read.

The statement informed the airline’s clients that it would not operate its Embraer E -190 during the repair period due to the shortened runway.

“All Kenya Airways flights to Kisumu will be operated by Jambojet’s Q400 aircraft between 20th and 27th March 2019”, the statement noted.
