The Beyond Zero Marathon is scheduled to take place on the 10th of March 2019 which will be on a Sunday and as has been the norm, Nairobi residents have hence been requested to use alternative routes.
The Beyond Zero 2019 Half Marathon is scheduled to start at 6.30 am and the following roads will be closed for the most part of the morning.
- Mombasa Road
- Lusaka Road – Mombasa Road Junction to the City Stadium
- Aerodrome Road
- Bunyala Road – Mombasa Road Junction to Unilever Kenya
- Haile Selassie Roundabout – August 7th Memorial Park
- Kenyatta Avenue
- University Way
- Waiyaki Way
- Museum Hill – Waiyaki Way Junction – Ojijo Road/Kipande Road junction
Marathon Schedule:
The marathon will this time round incorporate pregnant women who will walk a 2 kilometer distance from 9am while others will run a 5 kilometer race unlike previously.
A 10 kilometer race for the Corporate will begin at 8:30am while the Wheelchair/Tricycle race will start at 6:30am. The main marathon which covers the longest distance at 21 kilometers and features the First Lady, Margaret Kenyatta will start at 7:00 am.
Beyond Zero marathon was launched in January 2014 by Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta.The Beyond Zero marathon seeks to prevent preventable maternal and child deaths that most occur during birth.
