A 24-year-old woman has been stabbed to death by an alleged lover in Nyaribo area, Nyeri County in a worrying trend of increased crime against females.
The crime is reported to have taken place at around 1 am Monday morning after a domestic confrontation turned ugly. The man reportedly tracked down the woman at her friend’s place after they had earlier separated. He allegedly stabbed the woman on her neck leading to her death.
It is not clear what triggered the crime but it is clear that the couple had a disagreement prior to the attack given that the woman was hiding with a friend.
Paul Kuria, the Nyeri Central Sub-County Police Commander told reporters that the suspect had escaped and a manhunt has since been launched.
“He took off as soon as he committed the act and we are currently looking for him,” Mr.Kuria informed.
This comes hours after another case that left a Pwani University student, Ms. Naomi Chepkemoi, nursing serious wounds after her boyfriend and father of her child stabbed her severally. Ms. Naomi, a third-year public health major was stabbed by her alleged boyfriend who had traveled from Nairobi to Kilifi to demand her reason for reversing 3,200 shillings he had sent her.
In Karatina District Hospital, 30-year-old Peninah Wangeci continues to recuperate after her husband and father of three children stabbed her seventeen times. Peninah’s husband has since surrendered to authorities and investigations are in line.

In Thika, funeral arrangements are underway for Ivy Wangeci, a 6th-year medical student who was hacked to death by her alleged boyfriend Naftary Kinuthia in the Moi Referral Hospital, Eldoret. Ivy Wangeci’s parents have condemned and disputed rumors soiling her image online and defended their daughter’s character.
In Kakamega County, a family is in mourning after their daughter was stabbed to death by her husband after a domestic row ensued. Khanali Mwonoba lost her life after the husband stabbed her in the neck using a kitchen knife according to their neighbors in Eldoret where the couple lived.
The recent increase in domestic deaths has caused an uproar in the social media and concern among members of the public with a majority calling upon swift action on the perpetrators to discourage the rise of crimes against women.
