Several roads will be closed on Saturday following the Mater Heart Run event. The event will be held in Nairobi, Mombasa, Machakos, Kisumu and ten more across the Country.
The Mater Heart run is an initiative primarily by the Mater Hospital which is meant to raise funds to sponsor children with heart conditions to undergo treatment at the facility.
The run prides in over 3000 heart procedures in the management of Rheumatic fever having been performed since the program’s inception in 1995.
The Mater Hospital says the walk has grown the facility from 20 to 200 heart surgeries every year.
“…to continually raise money for purpose of funding financially disadvantaged children in desperate need of cardiac surgeries,” a statement by the Mater Kenya reads on Twitter.
Roads will be closed as early as 7 am on Saturday at which time the walk shall have started.
Roads that will be closed in Nairobi are as follows:
- Kenyatta Avenue
- Valley Road
- Mbagathi Way
- Lang’ata Road
- Aerodrome Road
- Uhuru Highway
- Parliament Road
- City Hall Way
