14 Dead in Mwingi-Garissa Accident as Nasib Sacco Bus Rams into Trailer

At least 16 people died on Monday morning, 13th May 2019, in a road accident that involved a trailer and a passenger bus at Tula area on Mwingi-Garissa road.

The driver of the Nairobi-bound bus is reported to have had over 60 passengers on board at the time of the accident and drove into a trailer that had stalled on the Mwingi-Garissa road according to the Tana North Police Commander Tom Okoth.

The passenger bus, that is reported to have been at a high speed was ripped away as it roof got slit off, killing ten passengers and leaving dozens in a critical state.

14 injured passengers were rushed to Garissa Provincial General Hospital according to the Kenya Red Cross through their twitter handle.

“Fourteen people with severe injuries evacuated to Garissa Provincial General Hospital by Kenya Red Cross and Garissa County Ambulance after a PSV Bus rammed into a stalled trailer at Tula along Garissa-Nairobi road,” the Kenya Red Cross tweet read.

In another separate accident, seven casualties have been reported along Meru-Embu road at Nithi Hill, have been rushed to Chuka referral Hospital after a 14-seater matatu lost control and rammed into a tree on the same Monday morning
