Avocados Retailing Highest in Eldoret at 3,600 Shillings Per 90 Kgs

Avocados are retailing the highest in Eldoret town at a market price of 3,600 shillings and lowest in Kisii at only 900 shillings for a 90 Kg bag.

A market survey carried out by Soko Directory shows that the average price of a kilogram of avocadoes is going for about 30 shillings countrywide.

This is an increase in prices from last year in October where a 90 Kg bag of avocados were going for about 2,200 shillings, meaning that a kilogram was being sold at roughly 25 shillings.

Avocados in other major towns are being sold at 2,800 shillings in Nairobi, 1,700 in Kisumu, 3,500 shillings in Mombasa and Nakuru.

On the other hand, Passion Fruits continue to record the average market price among all fruits sold within the Kenyan markets.

A 57Kg bag of Passion Fruit is being sold at an average price of 5,108 shillings countrywide with the highest prices being recorded in both Nairobi and Mombasa markets, each with a wholesale price of 6,000 shillings.

Notably, prices for Passion Fruits have gone down from 5,212 shillings in May and now at an average price of 5,108 shillings in June.

Kisumu has the lowest price for a 57Kg bag of passion fruits with a market price of 2,500 shillings, followed by Eldoret at 4,560 shillings and Nakuru at 5,500 shillings.

Oranges recorded the second highest prices in the fruit category where a 93 Kg bag is being sold at an average price of 3,465 shillings with Nakuru having the highest price of 6,200 shillings.

Busia, on the other hand, has the lowest price for oranges where a bag is going for only 2,000 shillings.
