Ugali Flour May Be What Your Face Needs Today for That Glow

By Wilkister Alao

Now, let me let you in on another secret. We have all experienced that ‘Mwezi uko kwa corner’ period where you really can’t afford to use your hard-earned little money for anything other than food (which mostly during these times is Ugali and Sukuma wiki hahaha), right?

Then, something happens when you’re broke: you feel constantly hungry. Craving for the simplest things such as smokie pasua and the like (that’s true, do not give me that look), you see nice dresses being sold at 100 shillings on the streets on your way home from work, nice mitumba shoes, tropical sweets, and so on.

The only problem is, you usually cannot afford them at that time. And you certainly cannot ask your girls to lend you money for that, or can you?

I don’t know why such periods come with a lot of ‘misfortunes’. Like the whole world is working against you. First, you have a job but you don’t have money, then you’re hungry, then you can’t afford tropical sweets, and then boom! Your skin chooses to look like a toad’s skin. You need to exfoliate it but your facial scrub container is empty. Clean!

I know there are so many things you can use in the place of your commercial facial scrub. Brown sugar and honey, baking soda add-in, coffee and oils scrub, and ground brown rice and egg white exfoliating scrub, among others.

Now all along I was to write about Ugali. Okay, before you get excited, not Ugali the food but the flour. Did you know that amidst all your ‘brokeness’ and ‘toad-face’ situations you can have a saviour and a solution to your toad-like skin in ugali flour? Now you know!

And it’s easy. Ugali flour hardly misses in most Kenyan kitchen shelves. So, here’s the thing.

And that, my people, is all you have to do. Shall I say ‘thank me later’? *wink.
