Nairobi County is set to advertise 2,500 jobs to help improve services it’s rendering to Nairobi residents, according to the County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
The new jobs will enable the County to curb traffic congestion within the City Centre; improve healthcare services, early childhood education and the County’s preparedness on the disaster.
The new jobs will see the county grow its staff to 14,500 from the current 12,000 and reduce the number of unemployed Kenyans, especially in Nairobi.
Concerns of whether the process of recruiting the 2,500 expected employees will be free of corruption cannot be wished away as history has had it previously.
City hall was at one time reported having had over 2,500 blood relatives in 2014 in case that seemed to reveal outright nepotism which candidates can only hope that this shall not be the case with the expected recruitment.
The new number of expected employees is expected to solve gaps also created by employees set to go on retirement and those that are deceased.

- 25 social workers
- 25 nutritionists
- 10 planners
- 10 surveyors
- 15 road engineers
- 10 architects
- 225 subordinate staff
PSC Internship Opportunities
The Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced internship opportunities where interns will be paid a standard 25,000 shillings per month.
PSC targets to recruit 30 interns in every constituency who are also purposed for the replacement of retirees.
The recently announced job vacancies are hopefully going to mark a sign of relief, if only for a number of unemployed Kenyans.
