Former Transport and Licensing Board Chairman Hassan Ole Kamwaro is dead.
Ole Kamwaro succumbed to throat cancer as he was receiving treatment at the Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma in the United States (US).
Kamwaro, who was battling throat cancer, lymphoma, which is a cancer of the lymph nodes, had traveled to the US to seek treatment according to his daughter, Diana Kamwaro.
Kamwaro will be remembered for his contribution in the transportation industry after he was appointed the TLB chairman by the then President Mwai Kibaki who revoked the appointment of Wilfred Lengei in favor of Kamwaro.
Ole Kamwaro took to the helm of the Transport and Licensing Board (TLB) from 2010 to 2012.
Ole Kamwaro, upon the end of his tenure at the TLB, retired and the then President Kibaki appointed Engineer Joseph Kamau Thuo to fill in Kamwaro’s shoes at the helm of the Licencing Board.
Ole Kamwaro’s Family Life
Hassan Ole Kamwaro lost his first wife, Regina Kamwaro in a road accident and after a few years, he got remarried to his second wife, Judith Kamwaro.
Judith Kamwaro is said to have disappeared without a trace leaving the then-ailing Hassan Ole Kamwaro with no option but to remarry.
In December 2013, Hassan Ole Kamwaro hit the headlines again when at the age of 69 years; he remarried his third wife Eunice Sossion who was only 22 years of age at the time.
Clad in Maasai traditional regalia, Ole Kamwaro’s image with his 22-year-old wife lit social media platforms as Kenyans expressed their surprise.
Ole Kamwaro, in an interview with a local daily, however, prophesied his love to his newly wedded wife saying she stood by him when he was ailing and deserted by his second wife, Judith.
Hassan Ole Kamwaro as a Maasai Leader
Hassan Ole Kamwaro will be remembered as a leader in Kenya and most especially in the Maasai community as he spoke for the community even on the disputed Mau forest.
Kamwaro, together with a group of Narok leaders opposed Deputy President William Ruto’s directive to have 2,400 illegal settlers at Maasai Mau Forest leave the water tower.
