Hillary Barchok has today been sworn in as the Governor of Bomet following the death of the County’s Governor, the late Joyce Laboso on July 29th, 2019.
Barchok comes in as the third Governor of Bomet after Joyce Laboso who succumbed to colon cancer.
Barchok, who was the deputy Governor to the late Laboso, was sworn in by High Court judge George Dullu on 8th August in Bomet Green Stadium in Sotik Constituency.
The late Governor Joyce Laboso was in power for barely two years before her demise and was sworn in at the same Bomet Green stadium in Sotik Constituency in August 2017.

Hillary Barchok, 45 years of age is a teacher by profession, a factor according to Laboso’s husband Mr. Edwin Abonyo, endeared him to her as a deputy Governor, pushing out a number of other hopefuls.
Barchok, an alumnus of Kericho high school, completed his Secondary education in 1993 after which he proceeded to Egerton University to pursue his undergraduate degree in Education Science where he specialized in Chemistry and Mathematics.
Barchok then proceeded to the Moi University where he pursued his Ph.D.
Barchok, a known specialist in curriculum development, was born on the 3rd of December 1973. The father of three, Barchok, is a family man married to one known wife.
Barchok started off as a science teacher at Mulot Secondary school before furthering his education which saw him promoted to teaching in the Chuka University in Meru.
It is at Chuka University, according to Mr. Abonyo, that the late Dr. Joyce Laboso sought Barchok requesting him to deputize her.
Barchok, a Dean at the School of Education at Chuka University, accepted Laboso’s request and together they embarked on campaigns that would see them oust the then Governor Isaac Ruto.
Barchok is recognized for his role in empowering his community where he organized activities that promoted entrepreneurship skills among the youth.
Barchok has also served as a commissioner at the Commission for Revenue Allocation. All eyes and good wishes are now on the newly sworn-in Bomet Governor, Hillary Barchok.
