Tabitha Karanja and Husband To Be Arrested For Tax Evasion

The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has ordered the arrest of directors of Keroche Breweries Ltd, Tabitha Karanja and her husband Joseph Karanja for tax evasion.

According to a statement issued by DPP, the Keroche has evaded paying taxes to Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to the tune of 14.45 billion shillings.

The DPP says investigations have found the two directors with 10 counts of tax evasion and tax fraud and asked them to present themselves to the authorities.

The DPP says KRA sought an inquiry into Keroche for evading to pay taxes totaling to 14,451,836,375 shillings.

Keroche is also being accused of evading to pay 12.34 billion shillings in Value Added Tax (VAT) for stamps amounting to 329.4 million shillings, 135.4 million shillings for Crescent Vodka among other products.

The company has also been accused of failing to pay other 2.1 billion shillings in taxes for their products.
