The most anticipated La Liga fixture El Clasico, an exhilarating match between Real Madrid and Barcelona has been pushed to a later date due to security concerns in Catalonia, Barcelona.

The thrilling match between the two La Liga giants has been pushed to December 18, with both Real Madrid and Barcelona agreeing with the new date.

Spanish Football Federation postponed the match stating that it had proposed the game to be played at Real Madrid’s stadium, Santiago Bernabeu which both teams rejected.

“The decision of the competition committee has come after analyzing in recent days the proposals of both clubs, which were invited to agree on a date and which have agreed on December 18 for the celebration of the postponed match,” read a statement by the Spanish Football Federation.

However, La Liga is not in agreement with the rescheduling of the El Clasico match and it announced to seek legal action.

La Liga wants the El Clasico match played at an earlier date since the new date will clash with the Copa Del Rey fixtures which would affect the league’s earnings. La Liga further stated that Real Madrid and Barcelona have no capacity to decide when and where they want to play.

The Barcelona protests came after key political leaders were detained by the courts of justice, leading to the closure of several roads and even the Camp Nou Stadium for safety reasons.

In other news, Leicester City humiliated Southampton after a 9-0 win with Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez both scoring hattricks last night. This is Leicester’s biggest EPL win.
